Hi friends!

Albus here. While my humans spend their days helping people buy and sell homes across Western North Carolina, I take my job just as seriously—finding the very best places to sniff, stroll, nap, and enjoy everything that makes living in Asheville so special.

If you’re lucky enough to call Asheville home (or you’re thinking about making the move), here’s my official Summer 2026 Bucket List. Grab your leash—or your hiking boots—and let’s go!

🥾 1. Catch a Sunset at Black Balsam Knob

If you’ve never watched the sun dip behind endless Blue Ridge Mountains, you’re missing one of the most beautiful experiences in Western North Carolina.

The hike is moderate, the views are unforgettable, and there are endless places for humans to sit and soak it all in while I investigate every interesting smell along the trail.

💦 2. Cool Off by a Waterfall

Summer in Asheville means waterfall season.

Some of my favorite places include:

  • Looking Glass Falls
  • Moore Cove Falls
  • Graveyard Fields
  • Skinny Dip Falls

Nothing beats cool mountain air and rushing water on a warm July afternoon.

⚾ 3. Cheer on the Asheville Tourists

There’s something about baseball, mountain sunsets, and cheering with friends that just feels like summer.

Grab a hot dog, enjoy the local atmosphere, and stay for the fireworks. (I’ll happily wait for any dropped snacks.)

🎶 4. Spend a Saturday at Shindig on the Green

Live bluegrass.

Mountain dancing.

Blankets spread across Pack Square.

It’s one of Asheville’s most beloved traditions and one of the best ways to experience our mountain culture.

🍦 5. Find the Best Ice Cream in Town

I’m not technically allowed chocolate, but my humans usually let me sample a little vanilla.

A few favorite summer stops include:

  • The Hop
  • Ultimate Ice Cream
  • Kilwins

Life is simply better with ice cream.

🚶 6. Walk Around Beaver Lake

This may be one of my favorite places anywhere in Asheville.

Wide walking paths.

Beautiful mountain views.

Friendly neighbors.

Plenty of squirrels (that somehow always get away).

It’s easy to understand why homes in North Asheville and the Lake View Park area are so desirable.

🍽️ 7. Enjoy a Dog-Friendly Patio

One of the best parts about living in Asheville is how welcoming the city is to four-legged visitors.

Many local restaurants and breweries welcome pups with water bowls, treats, and plenty of attention. If you see me out and about, don’t be shy—I accept compliments and ear scratches.

🌿 8. Explore the Blue Ridge Parkway

No matter how many times we visit, the Blue Ridge Parkway never gets old.

Craggy Gardens.

Mount Mitchell.

Devil’s Courthouse.

Every drive feels like a postcard.

Living in Asheville means having one of America’s most scenic roads practically in your backyard.

🛍️ 9. Spend an Afternoon in Black Mountain

If your idea of a perfect day includes boutique shopping, coffee, local restaurants, and a stroll around Lake Tomahawk, Black Mountain deserves a spot on your list.

It’s one of my favorite small towns to visit—and I always seem to leave with a few extra treats.

🏡 10. Find Your Perfect Asheville Home

Okay…this one might be my favorite.

Every week I get to tag along as my humans explore some of the most beautiful homes in Asheville and Western North Carolina.

From historic homes in Montford to modern mountain retreats in Olivette, cozy cottages in West Asheville, luxury estates in Biltmore Forest, and homes with incredible Blue Ridge Mountain views, every neighborhood has its own personality.

That’s what makes Asheville real estate so unique—there truly is something for everyone.

Summer has a way of reminding us why we love living here.

That’s the magic of Asheville.
